From Executive Director Andrea Thebarge

Hello everyone and thank you for your interest in Maine Rapids. We are a competitive club whose focus is developing young players and providing an opportunity for individual growth in the sport. We offer competitive teams for the older age groups (U19-U14/U12) as well as a developmental program for U12 and skill development clinics for U10. We have an incredible staff, with tremendous experience, who are knowledgeable and passionate about each player's success. We understand what it takes to compete at a high level, and we are committed to providing a unique experience that consists of both structure and fun.

For competitive players (U12+), before you register, it is important that you review the practice dates and times as well as the anticipated tournaments for your age group (see the practice and tournament schedule and full calendar). We are looking for committed players who are interested in putting in the time that is required to take their game to the next level. Please make sure that the schedule works for your family before you commit to the team. Due to many different factors, rosters will be limited to a size that ensures each athlete receives enough individual attention to help improve their game.

U19: This age group will consist of one or two teams that will be chosen based on each athlete's current individual skill level, game sense as well as position. For players born in 2005, 2006, and 2007.

U16: This age group will consist of one or two teams that will be chosen based on each athlete's current individual skill level, game sense as well as position. For players born in 2008 and 2009.

U14/U12: This age group will consist of one team that will be chosen based on each athlete's current individual skill level, game sense as well as position. For players born in 2010, 2011, 2012 and 2013.

Session fees may be paid in full upon team acceptance, or in two installments. Travel expenses are the responsibility of the player and are in addition to the session fees.

** Athletes will need to register and tryout during the time slot for their age group. It is possible for an athlete to be invited to move up into an older age group, but this will not happen per the request of the athlete or parent. This will happen on a rare occasion as the intent is to provide the strongest competitive teams at each age group.

We are looking forward to a great winter of Maine Rapids field hockey and on behalf of the coaching staff and board of directors, we look forward to welcoming you to tryout.

-Andrea Thebarge, Maine Rapids Executive Director
